CJPP Research and Travel Grants
The Criminal Justice and Public Policy (CJPP) MA program offers funding to help offset costs for graduate students who are:
- Conducting research related to their thesis (e.g., travel for interviews, honorariums for participants, transcription services, document access fees, etc.), or
- Presenting at academic conferences
Grant Amount: Up to $500 per student. In exceptional cases, more than $500 may be awarded. Students are only eligible to receive one grant per year. Note: These funds are meant to subsidize costs, not cover them fully.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- Be enrolled in the CJPP MA program at the time of your conference or research travel
- Be involved in either:
- Conducting thesis research required for your degree, or
- Presenting at an academic conference
Application Requirements
For Research Support and/or Travel:
- Letter from your advisor confirming that the research support or travel is essential to completing your thesis, including whether they are contributing to your travel costs
- Detailed budget (transportation, accommodations, etc.) with receipts attached, if applicable
For Conference Travel:
- Name, location, and dates of the conference
- Brief description of the conference
- Confirmation of paper or poster acceptance
- Description of your role at the conference
- Explanation of the relevance of the conference to your research
- Abstract or summary of your presentation
- Detailed budget (transportation, registration, accommodation, etc.), with receipts attached, if applicable
- For thesis students, letter or email from your advisor indicating whether they are contributing to your travel costs and whether you have received any additional funding from other sources

- Application Deadlines: November 15 and February 15 (Applications are reviewed twice per year)
